Absences

CAS policy regarding faculty absences

Please reference the CAS “Statement of Faculty Responsibilities”

Reporting

In order to manage reporting requirements, the department will seek notification from faculty members outlining all planned absences for the upcoming term (includes exam week and, in fall term, Orientation Week). The report should include the following information for each date or group of dates:

  1. Date(s)
  2. Reason (conference, research, personal travel, etc.)
  3. List of class meetings that will be missed, along with an explicit plan of how they will be taught in the absence of the faculty member
  4. Strategies by which the faculty member will meet other university responsibilities while away, e.g. office hours, advising meetings, etc.

Procedure

All faculty not on leave are required to submit the Planned Absence Report for the following term by Friday of Week 10. However, faculty are encouraged to file the form as soon as plans are known. The form may be submitted multiple times in a term. Submit completed forms to cstock@uoregon.edu.

Sick Leave Reporting

Sick leave is reported in response to an e-mail request from the office manager around the 10th of each month for days missed in the previous month. Faculty should refer to the CBA and to faculty sick leave  guidelines posted on the HR website.
