Course scheduling
Course scheduling preferences are submitted via the COLT Courses website. Log in using your Duck ID and password.
Assigned courses
After your courses are assigned, typically by Jan. 20, the course is set up for scheduling, and it appears in the list in the main window of your home screen. You will receive an automated e-mail with a link requesting that you confirm your course. Please click on the link and log-in to confirm that the course listing is correct.
Scheduling
Classes are scheduled M-F between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. To maximize the use of classroom space, each department is required to schedule across all the time zones in set ratios. We will, however, take into consideration your scheduling preferences. Please be aware that you will need to submit your preferences before we create the term’s schedule: the Fall schedule is created in January, the Winter schedule in July, and the Spring schedule in September.
To view the scheduling protocols for a course, click the Course Curriculum button in the right upper corner of the main screen, then click on the course to view scheduling information.
To submit your scheduling preferences: Access your list of assigned courses (see above), then click on the “edit” button next to the course listing. Scroll down to the link “Submit Scheduling Preferences” and “Submit Classroom Type Preferences” if needed. If you are teaching a topics course, click “Submit Course Subtitle & Description” to enter the topic. Faculty teaching for other departments need to make note in the Comments section so the scheduler can coordinate with the other department. Scheduling preferences are due by February 1.
Course descriptions
Course descriptions 2-3 sentences in length are due on April 15. This allows staff time to prepare publicity materials for advisors by the start of advising for fall term.
Full course descriptions, if available, are due by April 15. If the course description has not been developed by April 15, the faculty member should upload it as soon as it is available. Please email Cynthia when you upload or edit any course description after April 15. If the course description is received by the start of the previous term, the description will be published in lieu of the official course description on the UO Class Schedule.
Course descriptions cannot be changed after the start of priority registration (Monday, Week 8 of the previous term).
To submit course descriptions, access your list of assigned courses (see above), then click on the “edit” button next to the course listing. Scroll down to the link “Submit Course Subtitle and Description.”
Website publishing
When the class schedule goes live in DuckWeb at the end of Week 5, we link the courses on the UO class schedule to the COLT website. If you would like an image to be published with your course description on the COLT website, upload the image along with your course description where indicated.
